Burfee Cake Recipe

125g of melted butter or Margarine1.5 cups of sifted flour
3 teaspoons of baking powder1.5 cups of sugar
3 eggs1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 teaspoon elachie powder0.5 cup of milk ( if the mixture is too thick)
Spray & cook


  1. Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk the ingredients and add milk if it’s too thick. The mixture should not be too runny.
  3. Use the spray and cook to grease your baking pan and add the mixture thereafter.
  4. Bake in an oven at 180 degrees Celcius for 20-25 mins until it’s golden brown.

Burfee Icing


2 tablespoons of melted butter or margarine0.5 cup of icing sugar
0.5 cup of Klim or coffee creamer (Cremora)1 teaspoon elachie powder
3 tablespoons of hot milkAlmonds for decoration


  1. Add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well then pour it over the burfee cake.
  2. Decorate the cake with almonds & enjoy.

    Beat the butter, castor sugar, vanilla extract and eggs until fluffy, slowly pour the warm milk and whisk for 2 minutes, then add the flour and mix well. For the icing whip the icing sugar, white margarine and elachi powder until light and fluffy, you can now sandwich the cake and ice a thin layer around.
